US Students Win Stock Market Game Portfolio Challenge and a Trip to NY City
The US Stock Market Game team of Michael Barton, Sam Hall, Jack Willingham, and Hunter Behne won the Stock Market Game Portfolio Challenge at the University of Cincinnati. Competing against eight other 1st place teams, the CCDS team made a powerful presentation about buying and short selling stocks earning a 17% profit in 10 weeks. Six financial experts from the Cincinnati business community judged the presentations. The students belong to the US Investment Club founded by the boys when they were freshmen. For winning the Portfolio Challenge, the boys will travel to New York City on May 17-18, 2012 and present their portfolios to two financial firms, Goldman Sachs and Lazard.
To put their win into perspective, the Stock Market Game had over 800 teams competing in Southwestern Ohio. CCDS had three first place teams that competed in the Portfolio Challenge. The Stock Market Game for Ohio is run by Kimberly Moon from the UC Economics Center.
