Four Students Win National Art Awards - A CCDS First!
Actress Meryl Streep thinks Scholastic National winners Emily Sprinkle ’12, Amelia Drew ’13, Abby McInturf ’13, & Julia Murphy ’13 are cool. The Golden Globe winner told them so herself at the 2012 Scholastic Award ceremony at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Ms. Streep shared the spotlight with Edward Sorel (New Yorker magazine artist) and Hip Hop artist MC Lars at the 89th annual award ceremony. More than 800 teens, families and teachers representing the best of the best from 46 states attended the celebration. To honor the winners, the Empire State building lighting was gold. Names of all the winners appeared in the New York Times on Thursday, May 31. CCDS is proud to have five winners, a first in CCDS history. Emily Sprinkle won gold and silver medals, Amelia Drew and Abby McInturf won gold medals and Julia Murphy won a silver medal. Congratulations students!
