Will Duncan a Finalist for Jefferson Scholarship
Will Duncan '11 is a finalist for the Jefferson Scholarship at the University of Virginia. In late March, Will will attend the final competition at the University of Virginia with about 100 other finalists from the nation and the world. Last year, 27 Jefferson Scholars were selected from a similar pool. Will was the only finalist nominated by the city's Jefferson Scholarship nominating committee after the committee interviewed 27 students nominated by their high schools in Cincinnati.
The Jefferson Scholarship is one of the longest-standing and most prestigious merit scholarship programs in the nation. Its mission, according to program materials, "is to attract to the University the most promising future leaders, scholars, and citizens in the world and to give them sufficient financial support so that they are free to develop their talents and to use them for the good of the University community."
Jefferson Scholars receive stipends to cover the complete cost of attending the university, including tuition, room, board, books and other expenses. Scholars also receive leadership training and funds for foreign travel and study. For more information, visit the program web site at www.jeffersonscholars.com.
