Homecoming and Alumni Reunion Weekend a big success

It was sunny and hot for late September, but the weather cooperated to make Homecoming and Alumni Reunion Weekend a success all around.

The festivities began when students made their way to the stadium for an afternoon pep rally that featured the Spirit Squad and Lower School Cheer Squad firing up the crowd. Upper School classes competed in the crab walk, wheelbarrow, cartwheel and sprint on the football field. The pep rally ended with the popular tug-of-war among the classes."

"Aloha," a Hawaiian-themed FallFest (bird's eye view video) that featured new games and inflatables to keep students of all ages entertained. Thanks to the FallFest Committee and the Parents' Association for another fabulous event!

Upper School classes competed in the crab walk, wheelbarrow, cartwheel and sprint on the football field. The pep rally ended with the popular tug-of-war among the classes.

Before the football game, a large crowd gathered for the Alumni Reception at the Tennis Complex, where alumni reconnected with former classmates and teachers.

Meanwhile, John Zimmerman '98, accompanied by the Kohnen family, flew his helicopter (video) and landed on the football field to deliver the game ball. The helicopter ride was a CountryDate auction item. James Taylor '77 played guitar with members of the Upper School band during halftime. CCDS won the game against New Miami, 28-6.

On Saturday morning, 70 people attended the Alumni Breakfast on the Dining Terrace, where Head of School Tony Jaccaci presented the Chieftain Award to former Head of Middle School Richard O. Schwab '67. The award recognizes a member of the Chieftain Society, those alumni who are celebrating their 50th reunion year or more, for their dedication, attitude and motivation expressed through volunteer service to the community. This alumnus exemplifies our motto, Virtue in Action. After the event, this year's 50-year class, the Class of 1967, held a memorial service to remember deceased classmates.

Those classes holding reunions over the Homecoming Weekend were: 1967, 1972, 1977, 1982, 1987, 1992 and 1997. The Classes of 2007 and 2012 will hold reunions over Thanksgiving Weekend.
