CJ DeBra Named Division III Player of the Year

CJ DeBra `23 has been named the Ohio Division III Player of the Year by the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association.

"This is such an honor, but I could not have done it without the help of every girl on the team," says DeBra. "Each person pushed me to be a better player each practice and game, and I am so thankful for that."

This announcement should not surprise anyone who has watched her performance throughout the playoffs. The senior goalie shut out every team in the tournament and didn’t allow a single point to be scored.

"It's always amazing when a player has their best year during their senior year," says Theresa Hirschauer, head coach. "She was her best at our biggest moments, and that's a credit to her and her work ethic."

DeBra recently committed to playing soccer at Youngstown State next year. Her presence as a captain this past year will be missed.

"I'm most proud of her leadership," says Hirschauer.  "She's been a leader on and off the field for many of the younger girls on the team."
