Power of the Pen Success: Next Stop, Regionals

Fueled by imagination and ink, our middle school writers got to work.

Eleven Middle School students represented Cincinnati Country Day School at the district Power of the Pen tournament at Little Miami Middle School. Proudly wearing their screen-printed Makerspace T-shirts, students tackled never-before-seen prompts and wrote three original short stories demonstrating creativity, perseverance, and impressive focus.

Middle School English teacher Emily DiMatteo emphasized the depth of the experience, noting that “Power of the Pen offers students a rare combination of introspection and creativity as they craft original stories under pressure, all while testing their ideas on new eyes and new judges.”

This year proved especially successful, as six of the 11 Country Day writers advanced to the regional tournament, a testament to the dedication they have shown since the start of the season.

The Regional Power of the Pen tournament will take place on February 28 at Cincinnati Country Day School. We encourage families and classmates to join us in cheering on our writers as they continue their creative journey and proudly represent Country Day.
