The annual 7th grade trip to Cherokee, North Carolina is May 21-24, 2019. This trip is part of the curriculum as it brings to life and enriches our Native America unit in Culture Studies and our connection to nature in Science. Students travel to the Qualla Reservation of the Eastern Band of Cherokee, visit Oconaluftee Village to see how Cherokee life changed from the 1700s until now, complete a scavenger hunt in the Museum of the Cherokee Indian, and experience pow wow dancing and storytelling. In addition, students develop Mission Skills through a two-hour hike in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and a four-hour whitewater rafting adventure on the Nantahala River.
