Performance Training Program

The Country Day Athletic Department is pleased to announce the introduction of the CCDS Performance Training Program. This is a new initiative for the 2018-19 school year, focusing on the physical and mental preparation of our high school student-athletes. The program will run year-round, working with our CCDS varsity teams throughout their competitive seasons and undertaking important foundation work during the off-season.

Asif Shah (pictured) has been hired to lead the program. Coach Shah is a Country Day alumnus, Class of 2003, and was a key member of Country Day’s 2001 State Championship baseball team. He played Division I baseball through college, followed by seven years in the minor leagues. More recently Coach Shah has focused on providing dedicated training programs. He is a certified specialist in both strength and conditioning and speed and agility training.

The CCDS Performance Training Program is already well underway, with our student-athletes working out in our temporary weight room, in anticipation of the imminent completion of our new facilities in the Leonard Family Athletic Center.Performance Training hours (starting Wednesday, August 22) are as follows:

  • Monday – Friday (morning) 6:30 – 7:45 a.m.
  • Monday, Thursday and Friday (afternoon) 2:30 – 5:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday and Wednesday (afternoon) 2:30 – 7:00 p.m.

Physical and mental preparation are fundamental to the success of our high school student-athletes, and we are excited for them to reap the benefits of this dedicated, year-round program.
