Join us on Monday, November 8 for the presentation "Mental Wellness for our Children: How We Can Help" led by Dr. Michael Sorter, director of child and adolescent psychiatry at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, and Susan Shelton, executive director of MindPeace.

Dr. Michael Sorter

As part of the Parents’ Association’s mission of building community and creating connections, the Parents' Association is excited to host an evening with two leading industry experts to speak to the school community about the mental impact that living in today's world has on our youth, tips for parents, and partnership support at Country Day.

In addition to serving as the medical director of the division of child and adolescent psychiatry at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC), Dr. Sorter is a professor in UC’s Department of Pediatrics. He is a national mental health expert who works with children and teens and their families to understand mental health challenges they face and determine their best course for action and recovery.

Susan Shelton

Susan Shelton has been working with the school for over a year and through our relationship with MindPeace, Cincinnati Country Day School recently partnered with CCHMC to provide families the choice of accessing quality mental health treatment services with a lead school-based mental health partner on our campus. This partnership with MindPeace creates another layer of support for our students.

Social-emotional learning is a high priority for Country Day and is always at the forefront of discussions with staff and faculty. As we continue to see an increase in anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, and other mental disorders in our youth today, it is critical that we are all aware of what we can do to support our children - of all ages!

The presentation starts at 6:30 p.m. in Keeler Theater in the upper school. Attendees are welcome to arrive at 6 p.m. to grab a cup of coffee and then enjoy refreshments and light bites after the presentation. Friends of CCDS are welcome! Click here to RSVP by Friday, November 5.
