Donovan wins Mini-MATHCOUNTS Countdown Round

Congratulations to Will Donovan '23 who won the Countdown Round at the CCDS MATHCOUNTS Mini-Competition! The top student from each of the 18 schools attending competed in the round.

CCDS began hosting the highly competitive mini-competition seven years ago, and Will is the first Country Day student to win the Countdown Round. The school's top team was comprised of Will, Max Berghausen, Ben Jaccaci and Joshua Williamson, all eighth graders.

Middle School math teacher Susie Lewis organized the competition, which was attended by more than 300 students. Among schools attending were Greene Intermediate, Immaculate Heart of Mary, Lakota Plains, Lebanon, Madeira, Mason Intermediate, Mason Middle, Milford, Nativity, Cardinal Pacelli, St. Michael, St. Susanna, Seven Hills, Saint Margaret of York, Sycamore Junior High, Taylor and Wyoming. CCDS Upper School students assisted with the Countdown Round and checking tests.

The event is a forerunner to the local competition at the University of Cincinnati on Feb. 23. MATHCOUNTS is a nationwide math coaching and competition program for students in grades 6-8, promoting student interest in math.
