Cincinnati Country Day School juniors Rose Joffe and Lila Joffe were selected by ArtWorks to serve as art interns over the summer. "The process is very competitive and prestigious," said Carole Lichty-Smith, CCDS Fine Arts Department Chair.
Rose was an ArtWorks apprentice on the Blink: Light + Shadow project. "I was lucky enough to work with teaching artist Lizzy Duquette and a small team to create a shadow performance. We created the entire set, mapped out a storyline, and debuted at the Price Hill Community festival. It was such an amazing experience and I was really lucky to have been a part of it. Come see us at Blink on October 9th and 10th!"
Lila worked with Hear Me Out and assisted in writing a voter field guide in honor of the centennial of women's voting. "ArtWorks was an amazing experience for me. Through this incredible program I was able to meet and become friends with people from all over Cincinnati. My teaching artists, Michelle and Leo D'Cruz of Reverb, were amazing leaders, inspiring my teammates and me to create our best work and be creative."
"Through this project, I met amazing up-and-comers in the Cincinnati art world, and also learned so much about women's suffrage and voting in Ohio, two subjects that I am very passionate about. I learned about influential Ohio suffragettes, including Cincinnatian Marian Spencer. ArtWorks helped me to step out of my comfort zone and to be a team member."
