Mimi Liao '22 selected for Russian language program

Mimi Liao has been selected for the NSLI-Y (National Security Language Institute for Youth) summer program to learn Russian in Russia this summer

NSLI-Y is part of a U.S. government initiative that prepares American citizens to be leaders in a global world. It is important that Americans have the necessary linguistic skills and cultural knowledge to effectively communicate internationally.

The NSLI-Y study abroad program aims to provide opportunities to American youth that will spark a lifetime interest in foreign languages and cultures.

The status of this summer's program may depend on the coronavirus pandemic. Nonetheless, being selected in the summer before her junior year is a huge accomplishment.

Previously, Lorae Stojanovic '18 was selected for the program in the summer before her senior year.

Country Day delivers a balanced, whole child experience that fosters students; academic and personal growth - because the person they become is as important as the knowledge they gain.
