Work on the new Playscape is underway.
In the drawing below, you can view more details and the area it will encompass. The completion date for the Playscape, which will cover nearly an acre, is late June.
The Playscape will include a combination of grass, mulch and sand. Contours of the landscape will be changed to create some natural, gradual hills and valleys. Water drainage specifications are included throughout the site. All safety measures are in place.
Among the plans are a water feature with a stream bed and 6-8 inch waterfall. Sodded turf, native plants, certified play mulch and rot resistant wood are being used.
Following are the construction phases:
Phase one: Tunnel fort, tunnel nook, platform bridge, running hill, sand play area, seat wall, and shallow water play. Fred Rock and the existing dome climber will be relocated. The existing playhouse will remain at its current locations.
Phase two: Loose parts play area with fort building, loose parts play area with table and log seats, raised bed planters, drama platform, stone bridge, and council ring
Future phase: Tree house, entry focal point, and wayfinding sign.
