Toddler, Toddler Tops, Age 3, Age 4, and Kindergarten Groups

Description

Destination Discovery camps encourage exploration and creativity through developmentally appropriate open-ended activities. Activities emerge from questions and interests as each camper constructs his/her learning experiences. Manipulatives and materials offer endless possibilities for learning, creativity, and imagination.

Toddler group (18 – 36 Months) activities include:

Toddler Tops group (32 – 38 Months) activities include:

Age 3, Age 4, and Kindergarten activities include:

Requirements

  • Toddler campers do NOT have to be toilet trained.
  • Campers MUST be toilet trained to participate in the Age 3, Age 4, and Kindergarten groups.

Camp Country Day provides a unique learning experience that fosters key academic areas through club-centered programs. Each week offers new and engaging opportunities for campers to learn through fun, hands-on activities.

STEM Day Camps (Grades 5 – 8)

Description

STEM Day Camp provides a unique learning experience with fun, real world connections focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. Weekly themes offer innovative learning opportunities through hands-on activities that promote teamwork while developing creative problem solvers.

Schedule

Campers participate in an all-day program (8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.) or all-day with after-camp care 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.), 5 days per week.

The Great Escape

Bring your problem-solving knowledge! This week integrates all of STEM as campers explore and create puzzles, riddles, and escape challenges. We are building an escape room!

6/18 – 6/22
Rube Golberg Machine

Working in teams to improvise the use of physics and engineering, campers will invent a Rube Golberg Machine – a comically involved, complicated invention, laboriously contrived to perform a simple operation.

6/25 – 6/29
Stop Motion Animation

Become a motion picture producer to learn the creative process of story-telling, using stop motion animation. Campers will discuss the creative process from concept to final motion picture.

7/2 – 7/6

The “Engineerium”
Bridges,Towers, and Catapults

Using various methods of connection, campers will explore the successes and failures of engineering a build. Compare and contrast low and high breaking points comparing building and over building objectives to small scale.

7/9 – 7/13
Sound Science Fun

Discover the physics of sound vibrations and how a variety of mediums allow sound waves to travel to the ear. Campers will create music using their voice, hands, and technology as they learn the science of sound.

7/16 – 7/20

Game Player’s Paradise

Learn to create, design, and develop a variety of popular toys and games with Makerspace materials as we explore both classic toys/games and compare them to modern technology.

7/23 – 7/27

Aerial Adventures

(Drones)

Explore the science of aeronautics by engaging in engineering activities related to flight. Community experts will share knowledge and experiences through media and on-site visitors.

7/30 – 8/3
Sink or Float

During the cardboard boat project, students will practice real-world skills of measurement, buoyancy, construction, and teamwork. Students will construct a boat made from cardboard, carpet tubes, and duct tape.
