CCDS Environmental Commitment Grant

2020-2021 Waste

“We instill a culture of sustainability and purposeful connection to the natural world through education, partnerships, action, and self-assessment that will empower and inspire our community members to steward our environment.” –CCDS Forward’s Vision for Environmental Commitment

The Environmental Council was established in 2005 to create an environmental mindset and weave environmental studies through the preK-12 curriculum.  Because CCDS Forward aligns with our mission, we aspire to bring this vision to life by offering Environmental Commitment Grants. Our endowment has grown since our inception and we hope to award between $8000 and $9000 total in grant funds.  Students, faculty, and staff are invited to apply for $50-$1500 for projects that impact curriculum to form connections with nature, inspire action, and lead to a culture of sustainability.  Extra consideration will be given to projects that include partnerships among community members, promote interdisciplinary lessons across divisions, involve departmental or institutional self-assessment, and develop current programs for deeper experiences or larger audiences. Each year grants will support thematic study of our local environment. This approach opens opportunities to unify our faculty and students across divisions and disciplines. The theme for the 20-21 school year is waste.
