DESCRIPTION: Everyday life skills are essential for gaining independence, boosting confidence, and being a good member of society. Students will learn etiquette, table manners, communication, and everyday practical life skills that will build a solid foundation for life. Hands-on activities will include food preparation skills (cutting, peeling), table setting, letter writing (invitations, thank you notes), tidiness, helping others, and health. Participants will host a dinner party on May 8 for one guest to showcase their new and refined social skills.

DESCRIPTION: NI HAO Chinese introduces students to the culture and language of the many Mandarin speaking areas of the world. Lessons will be centered around real-life scenarios with a focus on hands-on learning activities, such as singing, dancing, crafts, and games. Through these activities, students will passively learn basic Mandarin language skills such as greetings, family members, colors, numbers, and much more...all without hardly being aware they are learning a language. NI HAO Chinese club members will be able to bring their projects home at the end of class and demonstrate what they have learned and experienced.
