The Team

Angela Joiner, the school’s director of equity, diversity, inclusion & social-emotional learning, works very closely with our three school psychologists as well as the therapist from Cincinnati Children’s, Kalyn Black, to coordinate and provide a comprehensive system of mental health services, care, and awareness on our campus.

MindPeace Therapist: Kalyn Black
Kalyn Black is a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) who works for Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. Ms. Black has completed years of school, training, and supervision to be qualified to help children and their families to become the most success versions of themselves. Ms. Black began her social work career in 2015 at Talbert House as a diagnostic assessor. After gaining and expanding diagnostic knowledge and experience, Ms. Black became a school-based therapist with Child Focus Inc. She provided school-based therapy services for over two years in a community on the east side of Cincinnati before becoming employed at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. She started providing therapy services in Sycamore School District in February 2020 and joined the Cincinnati Country Day community in September 2021. She lives in Norwood with her two dogs, Frankie and Zoe.

Lower School: Dr. Nikki Bishop-Kallmeyer
Nikki Bishop-Kallmeyer, Ph.D., is a Nationally Certified School Psychologist who has worked at the lower school since 2015 and has been practicing for over 23 years. She has experience in a variety of public and private schools in the Cincinnati and Chicago areas. Dr. Kallmeyer’s graduate degrees focused on curriculum, instruction, and educational psychology, as well as administration. Her passions include advocating for students, supporting mental wellness through teaching positive psychology techniques, supporting learning needs, developing social skills, and addressing behavioral challenges for school success. Dr. Kallmeyer participates in a research partnership with Miami University of Ohio to expand social-emotional screenings in schools. She has a B.A. from Bowling Green State University, an M.S. and Ed.S. from the University of Dayton, and a Ph.D. from Loyola University, Chicago. She has three children - one CCDS alum and two current CCDS students. In her free time, she enjoys local and global travel.

Middle School: Alexis Blaxberg Nordrum
Alexis Blaxberg Nordrum has served as the school psychologist in the middle school since the 2017-18 school year. Ms. Nordrum views herself as an advocate for children and families. She loves working directly with students and collaborating with colleagues in supporting students’ academic and social-emotional needs. She has served students of all ages in both public and nonpublic school settings for the past 10 years through Hamilton County Educational Service Center. Ms. Nordrum grew up in Miami Florida, earned her B.A. from Brown University, and her M.A. and Ed.S. from the University of Cincinnati.  Ms. Nordrum is a mom to two kids and on her free time, you can find Ms. Nordrum listing to podcasts, cooking, or hiking with her family.

Upper School: Dr. Kathy Scheidler
Kathy Scheidler, Ph.D., has served as the school psychologist in the upper school since the 2015-16 school year. Dr. Scheidler works with students to address social-emotional concerns, learning strategies, positive behavior development and supports, and mental well-being. She has served students of all ages in both public and nonpublic school settings for the past 25 years through the Hamilton County Educational Service Center. Dr. Scheidler has a B.A. from DePauw University, and an M. Ed. and Ph. D. from the University of Cincinnati. She is the parent of four teens/young adults.
